Thorogood 1957 Series 6” Waterproof Steel Toe Work Boots for Men

In 1892, Albert H. Weinbrenner and his partner Joseph Peffer opened a cobblery in Milwaukee to serve "jobbing" trades. It wasn't long before the business grew, and by 1900, it was officially established as the Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. The company continued to expand, and by 1916, it had printed its first catalog and had more leather cutting machines than any other company in the U.S.

During WWI, Weinbrenner became a major contributor of boots to the U.S. Army, introducing the "job-fitted" concept in 1917. The company celebrated 50 years in business in 1942, converting to all-military footwear during WWII and gaining popularity with civilians as well. Organized workers under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union in 1943, the company has maintained an outstanding relationship between management and employees.

In 1964, the Hike n' Camp, the official Boy Scout Boot, was introduced with a wedge sole and moccasin-style stitching, becoming the company’s best-selling boot of all time. The company was later purchased by a local group in 1988, and they celebrated 100 years in business in 1992.

In response to the September 11 terror attacks, Weinbrenner donated 300 pairs of durable work boots to Ground Zero, with another 200 pairs following shortly after. The 2014 launch of the 1892 Heritage line featured handcrafted, lifestyle boots built on the iconic No. 60 last.

In 2022, Weinbrenner celebrated 130 years as a company with the opening of a new factory in Merrill, WI, and the launch of the first western wear product, Thorogood's Square Toe Wellingtons. Union made in the USA, Thorogood has been relentlessly dedicated to craftsmanship, innovation, and comfort while producing job-fitted boots for various trades.

The MaxWear wedge outsole provides traction on slippery surfaces and is available in different styles. Thorogood’s Employer-Ownership Program was established in 2000, and the company has continued to expand and develop new styles as it celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2017.
